MORE POWERFUL THAN GOD-THE CHILDRENS AID SOCIETY

This documentary investigates how stories from an oppressed public can affect a democracy if voices that were silenced are facilitated and heard. It is a non-partisan directed documentary work that combines film and new media to “simulate a democracy” by giving people a voice who are otherwise silenced.

Blakout.ca is a Masters thesis for the Documentary Media program at Ryerson University. It is approved by Ryerson’s Ethics Review Committee and conforms to the University’s ethics guidelines.

Volunteers needed

April 20, 2011
We are a non-profit group looking for individuals that are having problems with Children's Aid Society (CAS), Ontario Works (OW), Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP),  WCB/WSIB and other social assistance programs; to be instructed and given the tools and information to assist you with your present problems.

To work as a volunteer until you feel qualified and have the experience to pass on the information that you have learned to other people.

This is not a legal position.

As a Canadian citizen, you have a right to search out the truth, and use the laws of Canada in your defense; for too long we have trusted the wrong people and we are not getting justice.

No experience is necessary, all that is required is the will and determination, internet access and a computer.

You can volunteer/work from home, after a short volunteer training session, we will assist you with equipment, computer etc…

Positions available:
  • research,
  • assistance with a magazine,
  • video production,
  • assist with online media source etc…

NATIONAL ACADEMY OF SOCIAL ADVOCATES (NASA) was founded in 2003 out of a growing concern to those living in poverty in Hamilton and Ontario.  All founding members have been or are on some form of social assistance program.

We have three levels of NASA: education, outreach and advocacy to give 24 hours support for victims of systemic abuse

"NASA facilitates and empowers individuals to deal with real life experiences using the existing legal resources available to them"
